About Vasavi Charitable Trust
As aspired by the resident owners of Vysya Bank Colony, a Meditation Hall with Temple Complex project was commenced with Bhoomi Pooja held on 28.10.2002 under the patronage and encouragement / involvement of Sri G Mallikarjuna Rao, Chairman GMR Group of Industries and Smt G. Varalakshmi Mallikarjuna Rao.
Prathishtapana of Sankashtahara Ganapathi was held during the period from 01.11.2003 to 06.11.03 under the guidance of Vedic pundits. On completing the major part of the construction of Meditation Hall Complex and Prayer centres, as advised by Vedic pundits, the Prathishtapana of the idols of Goddess Kanyaka Parameswari, Lord Venkateswara, Lord Shiva, Lord Hanuman and Navagrahas were held on 09.06.2006.
A composite Park with scenic beauty named 'Premkala Gelli Park" within the Temple complex area has come up with liberal contribution from Sri Ramesh Gelli. The park is facing the Sun God riding chariot driven by seven horses which is an architectural marvel in this part of the city.
In order to give a shape to the activities, we have registered a trust deed on 23.02.2004 under the name and style of “VASAVI CHARITABLE TRUST”. The trust deed was signed by 39 authors who came forward with an initial contribution of Rs. 1,001/- and donation of Rs. 25,000/- each, thus became Founder Trustees.
According to the trust deed (as amended from time to time) the trust can have a maximum of 126 trustees.
The objects of the trust in brief include organising the activities relating to:
Spiritual;
Social
Educational;
Medical;
Cultural;
Environmental;
We have been conducting various programmes under each of the above objective since May 1, 2004 commencing with a Medical Camp. For details of each of these activities please click on “Smirthi Padham” (Memory Lane), the photo gallery of the Trust.
As a practice in most of the temples, in Vasavi temple complex also conducts Sri Satyanarayana Swamy Pooja, Sankashtahara Ganesha Chaturthi and Pradosha Pooja every month on the prescribed days. On every Friday Prakarothsava pooja to Goddess Vasavi Matha is held. Every day around 150 devotees are visiting the temple to offer their prayers and seek the blessings of the Lord, with large number crossing few thousands on special days like Vasavi Jayanthi, Vaikunta Ekadasi, Sivarathri etc.
Further, the Complex has become a place of assembly for ladies and gents to chant various religious recitals like Sri Lalitha Sahasra Nama, Sri Vishnu Sahasra Nama, Govinda Namavali, Hanuman Chaalisa etc on every day. Several educational, medical and social activities are being conducted from the platform of Vasavi Charitable Trust. The Trust also is conducting free Homeo Clinic and Allopathic Clinic on weekly basis offering medicines and consultation free of cost. The trust also is supporting the orphan and poor children based in Samarthanam Trust, Hulimavu, Bengaluru.
We invite all residents in the colony and outside, to associate in the above initiatives and contribute financially or physically or morally to the good cause for which the trust is established.
The dream Temple Complex is now a reality only with the liberal contributions, hard work and best wishes from large number of friends and well-wishers. We thank all of them profusely and pray the almighty to shower his choicest blessings on them and their family members.
