A Remarkable Act of Selfless Service at Vasavi Temple Complex
On Sunday, 21st June 2026, the Vasavi Temple Complex at Shantiniketan Layout, Arekere, Bengaluru, witnessed an extraordinary display of devotion, dedication, and community service. Around forty volunteers comprising men, women, senior citizens, and children from Pranava Peetham assembled at the temple premises early in the morning with a singular objective - to serve the Almighty through selfless action.
The sight that unfolded throughout the day was truly inspiring. The volunteers from Pranava Peetham, enthusiastically undertook an extensive cleaning drive across the entire temple complex. As per the instructions of the revered Guru, Brahmasri Vaddiparti Padamakar garu who established Pranava Peetham, the "Gudi Badi" program (cleaning temples in surrounding areas) is being conducted in various places.
The volunteers removed accumulated slush from various corners of the temple park, cleared unwanted bushes and weeds, cut dead branches, swept and cleaned pathways, and meticulously attended to every nook and corner of the temple premises. They cleaned each and every each and every 108 lakshmi pillars around the temple.
What was particularly impressive was the level of commitment displayed by the volunteers. Some courageously climbed to the upper portions of the temple structure to clean areas that are rarely accessible. Equipped with ladders and cleaning tools, they even cleaned the inner ceilings and elevated portions of the temple hall. No task was considered too difficult or insignificant. Every member of the team worked with equal enthusiasm, humility, and dedication.
Equally heartwarming was the participation of elderly women and young children, who worked alongside others with great zeal and devotion. Their involvement demonstrated that the spirit of service transcends age and physical limitations. The entire exercise reflected a beautiful blend of teamwork, discipline, and reverence towards the sacred temple premises.
After several hours of tireless service, the volunteers assembled in the temple hall and offered collective prayers to the Almighty. The atmosphere was filled with serenity and spiritual fulfilment, reminding everyone present that service rendered with devotion is itself a form of worship.
On behalf of Vasavi Charitable Trust, Sri K. A. Krishnaiah, Vice President, addressed the gathering and expressed heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers for their exceptional contribution. Sri K. Pothanna Setty, President, Vasavi Charitable Trust, has coordinated with the organizers of Pranava Peetham and facilitated the successful conduct of this noble initiative.
Perhaps the most inspiring aspect of the entire event was the attitude of the volunteers led by Sri Karthik. Despite their tremendous contribution, they graciously declined all forms of felicitation, gifts, or recognition. Their sole intention was to serve without expectation of reward or publicity. Most interesting aspect is that these volunteers come from different part of Bengaluru. They are not associated with Vasavi Charitable Trust in any manner, except that this is the third time they came to our Vasavi Tempe in the past to undertake similar cleaning project.
Their conduct exemplifies the timeless principle of Nishkama Karma described in the Bhagavad Gita - performing one’s duty with complete sincerity and dedication while remaining detached from personal gain or recognition. In the selfless service rendered by Sri Karthik and his team, one could truly witness the manifestation of this noble philosophy in action.
The members of Vasavi Charitable Trust were deeply moved by the humility, discipline, and devotion displayed by the volunteers of Pranava Peetham. Words seem inadequate to express our appreciation for their invaluable service. Their efforts have not only beautified the temple premises but have also inspired everyone associated with the Trust to uphold the ideals of selfless service and collective responsibility.
We place on record our profound gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to Sri Karthik and every volunteer of Pranava Peetham for their exemplary contribution. May their noble spirit of service continue to inspire many more such initiatives in the years to come.
With sincere gratitude,
Vasavi Charitable Trust (Regd.)
